The Oloomurua Women's Self-Help Group is a legally registered women's group in Narok Countycomprising of 15 women members.
The group's main objective is to motivate and empower each member socially and economically to own an income-generating activity that helps to meet the basic needs of her family.
Maiyian Heritage is partnering with this group to support them in realizing one of their main objectives, which is a poultry income-generating micro project. Since August 2021, Maiyian has been working with the group to build chicken houses for at least 2 members each month.
The Chicken houses were completed in June 2023 and we started providing them with chickens from July 2023 so that they can start their poultry businesses. Another key need of the group is capacity building to increase knowledge and build on effective and sustainable poultry agribusiness management. This can be done through exchange learning trips to other groups that are successful in doing such a project.
Maiyian Heritagewill continue supporting the women monthly until each of the 15 members has 10 chickens to start their poultry businesses and they are linked to poultry and eggs off-taker.
